OVERVIEW MEDIATION

  • WORKPLACE LISTENING

  • TRANSFORMATIVE DIALOGUE

In London and in Winchester. In person and online.

Listening is at the heart of my practice

Do you get the sense there is something uneasy about how we very often operate ‘in business’ or when a business tone enters the room?

My experience is that putting on the proverbial suit seems to give us permission to leave our humanity at the office door. When we get home and shrug off the suit jacket, our humanity comes flooding back.

But we are left with a residual uneasiness and sometimes shame. By the morning we’ve squashed this down, ready for another day at work.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

My name is Nathalie Paterson. I am a former litigation solicitor and business owner who is preoccupied by how we so readily lose our humanity in business. I believe the effects of this splitting pervade every part of our lives and, thereby, the lives of others and that of our planet.

To this end, I specialise in Workplace Listening, Transformative Dialogue and Transformative Mediation. As well as in the business/work environment, I help families, friends and neighbours too.

If this strikes a chord, I’d be very interested in hearing from you.

My services

  • You are fully heard in a supportive, non-judgmental, private and confidential setting on any personal matters that are coming up for you in the context of your work.

    Examples could include:

    • conflict with a boss, colleague or third party business

    • anxiety around your role/your career future

    • a sense of unease, frustration or lack of fulfilment

    • stress, or perhaps shame, you find yourself carrying

  • Have you ever felt you could be having a better conversation with your partner, a colleague, your boss, a business contact or a friend? I will use transformative methods to support you in having the best dialogue you possibly can.

    Examples could include:

    • enabling you and your partner to have a better conversation about issues coming up in your relationship

    • supporting a team at work to have better communication and a more helpful conversation

    • enabling more effective dialogue between you and your boss or a colleague

    • creating fertile ground for resolving a thorny issue with a business partner/supplier or to get the relationship back on track

  • OK so you are in dispute. Using the Transformative method of mediation, we will take this as an opportunity to transform, both personally and in relationship with the other party, be it in a workplace, community or family setting. Find out more about Transformative Mediation here.

About me

I have a first class law degree from Durham University and specialised in civil litigation at Addleshaw Goddard. I have been running my own businesses since 2007, dealing with clients and professional service providers on a daily basis.

"It's not personal - it's just business." My experience tells me that this is never the case. Everything is personal and the full range of human emotions are engaged in even the driest of commercial disputes.

This is why I offer the Transformative method of dispute preemption and dispute resolution. In my view, it is by far the best method for helping things work and working things out - in a lasting way.

I operate in the sphere of civil and commercial matters and workplace. I work with families, friends, colleagues, businesses, neighbours.

With offices in London and Winchester, I prefer to meet in-person but I can also work with you online. All conversations are of course confidential. I am fully insured and registered with the Data Protection Commissioner.

My specialist areas of knowledge/experience include media litigation (and in particular defamation), interior design, architecture and business. I have two children aged 19 and 18.

“That wasn’t the conversation I expected to have. But it was the conversation I needed to have.”

“We just want to thank you for all your support, guidance, and communication throughout this process. You've always been there to help, and we really appreciate everything you've done.

I would be happy to recommend you to anyone who may need a mediator in the future. Thank you again for everything.”
